Few things capture simple joy quite like a bike ride — pop culture has known it forever, from the iconic silhouette in E.T. to Queen’s beloved anthem. Whether you prefer pedaling, running, or a leisurely walk, the Scottsdale Greenbelt delivers that feeling in abundance. One of the Valley’s longest paved paths not adjacent to a road, it stretches roughly 19 miles from Tempe Town Lake all the way to Westworld — and some of its most beautiful scenery runs right through McCormick Ranch, where green grass, tree-lined lakes, and warm desert breezes make it easy to forget you’re in the middle of a desert city.

The McCormick Ranch Stretch
Starting at Indian Bend Road, the path follows Hayden Road briefly before breaking away at McCormick Ranch Parkway and heading into the heart of the greenbelt. Here the path winds past small lakes that form part of the golf course, with the townhomes at Santa Fe visible along the west edge.
Crossing Via De Ventura, the path meanders around Lake Marguerite — one of the prettiest sections of the entire route. Palm Cove condos sit right along the lake, with some units featuring rooftop decks and water views. Lakeside Villas of Scottsdale is adjacent to Palm Cove, also enjoying the lakeside setting. If you want to linger, Press Coffee is right there along the lake for a well-earned drink.
From Lake Marguerite, the path returns to Hayden Road and passes the spacious, gated townhomes at Las Palomas — a lushly landscaped community with tennis courts and two pools.
After crossing Hayden, the path heads back into a residential stretch, passing the El Paseo townhomes, known for high ceilings and generous floorplans. Just before the path transitions into Scottsdale Ranch, it skirts the patio homes at Sands McCormick.
